Benjamin Wu is the Founder and Managing Partner of Vara Capital. He has more than two decades of experience investing in, financing, and advising growth companies across the capital structure, spanning private credit, structured capital, growth equity, and strategic transactions.

Prior to founding Vara, Ben was CEO of Brex Asset Management and Treasurer of Brex, where he launched and led Brex's investment business, chaired its Investment Committee, and oversaw investing, investor relations, operations, liquidity, and capital markets. Ben previously held senior investing roles at Macquarie and ORIX Growth Capital, investing across private credit, structured equity, and growth capital. He was a Senior Managing Director at Macquarie and Head of East Coast and an Investment Committee member at ORIX Growth Capital. Earlier, Ben was a Managing Director and sector head at TPG Sixth Street and a Principal at General Catalyst, where he was a founding member of the firm's growth strategy. He began his investing career at Fortress Investment Group, following an earlier role at Goldman Sachs.

Ben earned a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated summa cum laude from Penn's Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology, earning degrees from Wharton and Penn Engineering, and also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
