Benjamin Wu is the Founder and Managing Partner of Vara Capital. Over more than two decades, he has invested in, financed, and advised growth companies across nearly $3 billion of transactions spanning private credit, structured capital, growth equity, and strategic transactions.

Prior to founding Vara Capital, Ben was CEO of Brex Asset Management, where he launched and led Brex's investment business, and Treasurer of Brex, overseeing liquidity and capital markets. He was also Head of East Coast and a member of the Investment Committee at ORIX Growth Capital and a Senior Managing Director in Macquarie's Principal Finance group. Ben also served as Managing Director and Business Services sector head at TPG Sixth Street and a Principal at General Catalyst, where he was a founding member of the firm's growth strategy. He began his investing career in special situations and credit at Fortress Investment Group, following an earlier role in technology M&A at Broadview.

Ben earned a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated summa cum laude from Penn's Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology, earning degrees from Wharton and Penn Engineering, and also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Ben serves on the Finance Committee of Tufts Medicine. Outside of work, he is a competitive tennis and squash player and an active musician who performs across New York City.
